Travel Writing
The Dynamics of Knowledge Production
Raeesa Usmani (ed.)
Charotar University of Science and Technology
Travel Writing, narratives on travels, has multitudinous possibilities, still, unexplored. Travel writing facilitates alternatives and representations to re-discover, re-live and re-experience places, people and memories from different approaches. Every dimension presented by a travel writer through wide-ranging gazes, whether academic and/or critical, personal and/or creative, brings experiences of ‘others’ to life. Writing about travelling helps widening the exclusive discourse on travel narratives, either as prose or verse, which, in turn, brings out expansive interpretations that can enable the international readership to take a peek into the world of different viewers /onlookers /travellers, while following their individual Gaze.
Therefore, the edited book makes a significant contribution to understand how these varied perspectives might intersect with one another. How does travel narrative enables the unsettling of space and identities by asking questions of unsettling ideas of belonging?
