This research conducts a comparative literary study of postcolonial utopianism in Naguib Mahfouz's The Cairo Trilogy and Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner. Through a cross-cultural dialogue, the historical contexts of Egypt and Afghanistan are interwoven to analyze the political and social power dynamics present in both literary works. This study highlights how Mahfouz and Hosseini articulate their utopian visions for social reform and progress. Both narratives reflect the struggles of colonized individuals against oppressive hegemonies and ideologies, striving for liberation and independence while aspiring for improved futures. By examining the dystopian elements within these texts, the research underscores the postcolonial utopian methods employed by both authors. The final section illustrates how the intertwining of utopian and dystopian themes shapes the life journeys of the protagonists, Kamal and Amir, who embody their authors' visions for a better postcolonial reality in Egypt and Afghanistan. Ultimately, this study reveals the shared quest for identity reconstruction and social transformation in the narratives of both authors, contributing to a deeper understanding of their postcolonial contexts.
