An Egyptian Grammar with Chrestomathy and Glossary
Samuel A.B. Mercer
The book is intended for Beginners.Experience in teaching Oriental languages has taught me that the beginner needs a textbook which is both simple and also supplied with exercises. The book is designed primarily for use in colleges, seminaries, and universities, and is meant to provide an academic year's work of three hours a week.
The needs of the private student were also kept in mind. Egyptian is difficult. Nor have compilers of Egyptian grammrs done much to make it attractive to the student. It is with this in mind that I have prepared this book. I have divided the grammar into chapters or lessons, and supplied each chapter with copious exercises. I am sure that if the student works through these lessons with care an dilligence he will have no trouble with the reading exercises which follow (Re-edition; originally published 1927 in London; written in English)
