Nubri is a Tibeto-Burman language spoken in the high mountainous areas in Gorkha district of western Nepal. The Government of Nepal enumerates the Nubri community as ‘Larke’. It is tonal, and bears a number of features of Sinospheric languages. Nubri has distinct sets of plain and honorific vocabularies of nouns and verbs.

The nouns inflect for classifier, emphasis, number and case. The definiteness and indefiniteness in Nubri is expressed by using the clitics. It seems that Nubri is an ergative-absolutive language, but the ergativtity is optional. Most of the pronouns in Nubri resemble to that in Tibetan varieties. Although there are a very few monosyllabic adjectives, most adjectives are polysyllabic. The comparative and superlative forms are morphologically derived.

The past conjunct suffix is -hin and the past disjunct suffix is -soŋ. Nubri has the finite forms of verbs particularly in the past tense, which was traditionally described as ‘conjunct/disjunct’ in some other languages. Some aspects are generally expressed by serial verb constructions.

Nubri shares a number of features of SOV languages in its word-order correlations. Some modifiers precede the head noun in the noun phrases whereas others follow it. The negative suffix is -m. The complement clauses are marked by the suffix -ken, and -tsi in Nubri along with the grammaticalized form of the verb lap 'say'. Nubri permits different kinds of suffixes in relative clauses decided by the semantic role of the noun which is modified. The adverbial clauses in Nubri typically precede the main clauses. There are three non-finite forms of verbs used in the converbal constructions in Nubri. Nubri shares a number of morphological features with Kyirong Tibetan.

Bashō’s last masterpiece of ‘Narrow Road to the Deep North’ is written as the outcome of his long journey to the North-East remote areas in the deep northern areas in Japan. Spending six months walking, the purpose of the journey was to find the Way to discover a better scope for the Genroku haiku schools, which were wanting poetic truth, that is, inherent elegance from the ancient waka poetry.

Haiku poetry, derived as the shortened form waka, has become too farce-oriented, losing its thematic richness and the aesthetic beauty woven into wake traditions. The time and the place of socio-economic status was changing at the Tokugawa period (1603-1867). The samurai and aristocratic dominant society shifted to the common people, such as rich farmers, industrial factory owners, and businessmen. Naturally, the genre of poetic literature was responding to the socio-economic change of the time. Bashō’s poetic soul yearned for the poetic elegance of beauty seen in classics. The elements of wabi. sabi, and mono no aware were pushed away.

Bashō’s journey to the deep north is his Way of looking into and directly investigating what may happen in his own poetic soul; he follows the footsteps of his beloved mentor poets who had lived and died on their journeys. He visited Utamakura, which were places where those great ancient poets walked and composed their poems. This is Bashō’s Ethnographic basis and his Ethnographic scope has three spheres: life with nature, men, and spiritual beings.

The other study, ‘Time and Space in Basdō, Buson, and Issa’, discusses their haikus to explain Bashō’s influence on Buson and Issa, who came to create their own styles later in their forties.

Intervention in the translation process is not new and was enacted more excessively in the past than today. Three issues that intervene in the process of translation are namely ideology, culture, and power. The most dangerous interventions are caused by ideology in totalitarian regimes. Ideological orientations interfere with power relations and cultural items as well as literary production and translation. However, ideology is hidden in any language use, its meaning is embedded in any text or discourse, and its manipulative power has been enacted at any level in the process of translation. In the 50s and 60s, translators began to evaluate the techniques to affect the target audience through translation. They began to consider how to ideologically manipulate the texts to achieve this goal. Referring to Lefevere’s (1992) view, by a means of translation it is possible to motivate a nation’s ideological dogmatism or racism, and to engage the world in an ideological battle since as a main policy, ideology exists at any level of translation. The ideological translation can be seen as a threat to the national identity, culture, and power in society. To cope with such a problem in translation, power controls the filtering process by all means. Yet it not only controls the linguistics property of the text but the cultural/ideological aspects of the text and the sociopolitical situation in which the text is produced and comprehended.

Research on reflective practice is prevalent in school level and not so much in university level. Therefore, this research entitled Reflective Practice: A Professional Learning of English Teachers is an attempt to find out if university teachers specifically of Tribhuvan University practice reflective practice in their classrooms and to unwrap university teachers' experience on reflective practice with the help of stories. Two university teachers from Tribhuvan University, Central Department of English Education, Kirtipur, were purposefully selected. Non-random purposive sampling procedure was used to select the university and the teachers. Interview guidelines were used to collect the data and stories of the university teachers were recorded. The findings of the study showed that teachers of Tribhuvan University practice reflective practice on their own efforts which has helped them in their professional learning. They shared their reflective experiences to students or expressed through journal publication. Although the university was not found to have any programs for the teachers to practice reflective practice, these intrinsically motivated teachers have practiced it in their own ways.

In the treatment of certain chapters I have thought it necessary to work independently for reasons which on comparison would be obvious. This applies in the first place to my treatment of the infinitive and participle of the verb. As I could not accept the existing opinions concerning them, I have preferred to adopt a simpler theory arising from their unique twofold character of verbum and nomen. Further, in the manner of dealing with the status constructus, e.g., certain alterations seemed to me desirable.

The terminology, moreover, for naming the cases, such as we find in the classic and modern languages, has in so far it was possible been intentionally avoided. This plan I adopted, because in Hebrew scarcely any trace can be found of the so called flexion of the nomina, by which the various cases are expressed. The status constructus which most of all would remind us of them , on the one hand differs from them because of the alte ration of vowels , and the abbreviation instead of pro longation of words, and on the other hand it is capable of expressing so many cases, that it cannot well be identified with one or more of them.

Finally, it should be observed that I have ventured to divide this Manual in a manner different to that usually adopted , by first considering the different parts of the sentence, and then its construction (from the author's preface).

Contents: Part I: Nomen (the noun, determination of the noun, pronouns). Part II: Verbum (the verbal forms, the nominal forms). Part III: The particles (adverbs and adverbial expressions, interrogative particles, the remaining particles). Part IV: Construction of the sentence (nominal sentences, verbal sentences, the influence of the subject upon the predicate as regards gender and number, sequence of the different parts of the sentence).
