This volume analyses from various perspectives peaceful coexistence in relation to linguistic and cultural diversity.  The volume comprises fifteen papers which are grouped into four parts, viz:  peaceful coexistence and multiculturalism, peaceful coexistence, conceptualisations, perceptions and linguistic creativity, peaceful coexistence and language planning as well as management, peaceful coexistence and onomastics.
 
To be more precise, the issues discussed in Part One have to do with, multilingualism and multiculturalism, language practices in workplaces, language and peace. In Part Two, the contributions dwell on metaphoric conceptualisations, linguistic creativity and people’s perceptions of languages. In Part Three are  comprised papers which handle language choice, use, policy and planning in various domains. In the last part of the volume are found papers which discuss the pragmatics of address names and onomastics in literary works. The data analysed in the papers are drawn from various sources and were collected via questionnaires, participant observation, interviews, etc.

Aujourd’hui, les impératifs d’intégration de ces langues dans les systèmes éducatifs formels, de même que ceux de leur utilisation sur les plateformes numériques de communication commandent que des décisions liées à la standardisation de leurs orthographes soient non seulement adoptées, mais aussi mises en application au sein des différentes communautés des usagers. L’ouvrage est fondé sur des expériences nourries de réflexions théoriques et des pratiques de terrain issues du Burkina Faso et du Cameroun, deux pays témoins. Il donne opportunément à découvrir et à apprécier les efforts déployés de part et d’autre pour que la pratique écrite des langues endogènes soit, enfin, une réalité vivante. Par la même occasion, il met en évidence les savoirs et les savoir-faire qui devraient être capitalisés aussi bien par les communautés linguistiques que par les différents acteurs du développement des systèmes d’écriture et des orthographes.
 
This book both calls on continuing research, and contributes to the search for orthographic strategies, procedures and techniques for unwritten languages, amidst African languages. Today, the imperatives to use these languages in formal education systems, as well as the necessity to resort to them in digital communication platforms require that decisions for standardization of their orthographies be adopted and implemented as well, within different user communities. The book is grounded on experiences sustained by theoretical reflections and field practices from Burkina Faso and Cameroon.
 
It provides an exceptional opportunity to discover and appreciate the efforts deployed so far, so that the written practice of endogenous languages become a living reality. At the same time, the volume displays sets of knowledge and know-how which could be capitalized both by linguistic communities and different actors on the field of developing writing systems and orthographies.

This book is a collection of a first ever in-depth scholarly analysis of reinforcers in African languages and notably Cameroonian and Moroccan languages. It provides the reader with sound knowledge about this linguistic feature which has not yet received an academic attention so far. Furthermore, the book attempts to unveil this language element to feed researchers in languages and linguistics with new insight from African languages. Without focusing on a specific theoretical background, the collection provides the reader, in particular linguists and students in languages and linguistics all together with language specialists with new thought-provoking data, capable of shaking research and publications on the morpheme called reinforcers in African languages. The book does neither cover all Cameroonian languages nor all Moroccan languages because it deals with a linguistic feature not common to all the languages of the two countries involved. Though the contributions cover only languages from two African countries (due to the fact that the reinforcer does not seem to feature in all natural languages), the book is however very rich in phono- and morpho-syntactic data capable of triggering further research.
